Many Lure Styles

Shur Strike Lures, made by the Creek Chub Bait Company, came in many styles and colors. This website will show just a few. For more detailed information please check out my book: Shur Strike Minnows.

Pikie - P Series

Picture
By far the most popular of Shur Strike Lures, the Pikie was made throughout the company's history. This lure was also made in smaller sizes - the Baby Pikie (BP series), Midget Pikie (MP series) and Spinning Pikie. The lure design went through several phases as the years went by - the first was the true round nose shape. Following that was another version with carved eyes, then the inserted lip with flat top head, then the latest was the flat top head with bottom lip.

Jointed Pikie - PJ Series

Picture
A jointed version of the standard Pikie. The same colors were available.

____________________________

Darter - TT Series

Picture
The Shur Strike Darter was not as popular as Creek Chub's Darter and is harder to find. Shur Strike Darters had a bigger bolder head shape than Creek Chub's version.

____________________________

Runt - HR Series

Picture
Shur Strike made several varieties of Runt lures to compete with Heddon's popular River Runt Lure. Shur Strike's version can be found in sinking (HR series), floating (FHR series), spinning & jointed (HRJ series) varieties.

Injured Minnow - IM Series

Picture
This was almost identical to Creek Chub's version. Sometimes hard to tell the difference, but color and hook placement is a reliable method. The standard Shur Strike Injured minnow had just 1 center hook. In later years, Montgomery Ward sold a 2 side hook version. Available in standard size, baby (BIM Series) and spinning.

Plunker - PL Series

Picture
The Shur Strike Plunker style has the fatter body similar to the older Creek Chub Style Plunkers. Available in just one standard size.

Bass Oreno - BO Series

Picture
Made to imitate South Bend's famous Bass Oreno, Shur Strike's version is nearly identical. Colors are the easiest method to detect Shur Strike as the manufacturer. Available in standard size, baby (BBO series), midget (MBO series) & spinning.

Petite Spinner - PS Series

Picture
Made to compete with Heddon's Punkin Seed lure. This is a small lure with front & back spinners.

Small Dude - SD Series

Picture
Similar to the Petite Spinner, but with diving lip instead of spinners.

Crab - CR Series

Picture
It's pretty obvious what this remembles! Made in several colors, all with cotton thread "feelers".

Fast Fish - FF Series

Picture
The Fast Fish was created to compete with the Helin Flat Fish lure. It was available in 2, 3 or 4 hook versions.

Gar Minnow - GM Series

Picture
This lure is very similar to the Eger Dillinger and also Paw Paw's torpedo lure. Two sizes were available.

Mouse - MO series

Picture
The Shur Strike Mouse was made to compete with the Shakespeare Mouse. It was available in several color options. The photo shown is a Gateway stamped lure.
